The world of generative artificial intelligence just got a big boost from the House of Mouse. Disney announced its partnership with OpenAI, the first instance of a major entertainment company joining forces with artificial intelligence.

You'll soon be able to make AI images and videos featuring some of Disney's most iconic characters without worrying about getting sued for copyright infringement. Disney on Thursday announced it would be bringing over 200 of its animated characters to OpenAI's ChatGPT and Sora services,

Disney staffers spoke about the company's OpenAI deal and AI strategy, including AI tools they are using and one in development codenamed "Jarvis."

The WGA and SAG-AFTRA have released statements following Disney's alliance with OpenAI.

Disney CEO Bob Iger told CNBC that the partnership with OpenAI values creativity and keeps creators safe from replacement while giving fans new opportunities for creativity.

Disney's OpenAI deal comes at a time when the stock is essentially flat over the past 10 years, while the S&P 500 has soared 236%.

"​I think the reason this bidding is approaching $100 billion-plus is the content library and the potential to do a Disney-OpenAI type of deal."
