As first reported by ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Sunday, the Panthers plan on signing quarterback Bryce Perkins. The move comes after yesterday's right elbow injury to backup Andy Dalton, who made an early exit from the 20-3 loss to the Houston Texans.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton injured his right elbow on Saturday and did not return in the team's preseason game against the Houston Texans. After the game, coach Dave Cannales said it appears to be a right elbow sprain and he will be evaluated tomorrow. Canales said Dalton told him he was fine.
