There didn’t appear to be a lot on the line entering the final day of the regular season for the BC and BU men’s hockey teams.

Hockey East continued to give out its end of season awards and honors on Friday. The latest honor announced by the conference was the 2024-25 All-Hockey East teams. Four Eagles made the First-Team, forwards Ryan Leonard and Gabe Perreault,

BC, Maine, BU, UConn, and Providence — earned byes, and are now joined by UMass, UMass Lowell, and Northeastern after first-round victories.

Two first period goals proved to be all No. 14 Massachusetts hockey needed to secure a Hockey East Tournament opening-round win.

The No. 1-seeded Boston College Eagles men’s hockey team starts its run in the 2025 Hockey East Tournament as it hosts the No. 9-seeded Northeastern Huskies in the quarterfinals round on Saturday night.

Boston College is No. 1 in Pairwise, the rankings that determine the NCAA tournament field. Maine and Boston University, the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds in the Hockey East tournament, aren't far behind.

When Boston College won the Hockey East regular season title over the weekend to earn the No. 1 seed, the team knew where and when it would be playing in the conference tournament. However, the Eagles had to wait to find out their opponent for the quarterfinals until after the opening round of games on Wednesday night.

The Maine men’s hockey team is back hosting The Black Bears made it to the conference semifinals last year at TD Garden. The group is drawing on that experience and its work ethic for its belief after going 0-1-1 at UMass to close out the regular season.
