MSNBC will change its name

MSNBC is being renamed after parent company Comcast spins the cable news channel off into a separate corporate entity later this year. The left-leaning channel will be known as MS NOW once it becomes part of Versant, a new company, and is no longer associated with NBC News, staffers were told Monday.
Largely due to the trend of cord cutting, NBC is splitting off MS NOW, CNBC, the Golf Channel, and several other cable TV networks into a new company called Versant. Other networks include USA Network, E!, Oxygen, and SYFY. The new company will also own Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes.
The new name and logo, of course, is part of a larger restructuring plan by parent company Comcast to split off a large portion of its cable assets – which includes MSNBC, CNBC and other networks – from NBCUniversal, which will keep the NBC broadcast network and other media properties.

MSNBC Will Now Be Called MS NOW After Splitting Off from NBCUniversal. Here's What It Stands For
MSNBC is rebranding and changing its name amid its exit from NBCUniversal. In a company-wide memo on Aug. 18, Versant CEO Mark Lazarus revealed it will now be called MS NOW.
MSNBC still exists for now, but in the coming months, it’ll be broadcasting under a new name. The cable news network’s soon-to-be parent company Versant announced this morning that it’ll be giving many of its brands new logos and will officially be rebranding MSNBC to MS Now (My Source News Opinion World) at a yet to be announced date in the future.
As the cable news channel MSNBC splits up with NBC News, it is also dropping the NBC from its name. Later this year, the channel will become MS NOW, which stands for My Source for News, Opinion, and the World.
Left-leaning network MSNBC has been brutally mocked following the company’s new rebrand to ‘MS NOW’ or ‘My Source News Opinion World’. Social media users were quick to slam the new name and home of anti-Trump hosts such as Rachel Maddow and Nicolle Wallace.
The progressive cable news network MSNBC will formally change its name later this year to MS NOW, standing for My Source for News, Opinion, and the World.
