Sensex crashed more than 850 points on Wednesday (Feb12) to slip below 76,000. At 10:30 AM, Sensex was down 716 points or 0.94 per cent at 75,576. The Nifty 50 index traded 212 points or 0.92 per cent lower at 22859.

The stock market went into the red upon open on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, dragged down by mid and small cap healthcare, real estate, and consumer durables stocks. The market had experienced a severe crash in the previous trading session.

The Nifty 50 and Sensex ended 1.32% each. This is the sharpest fall since Jan. 21. The NSE Nifty Realty declined the most, followed by Nifty Media and Nifty Auto.

Indian stock markets opened on a weak note for the sixth consecutive session on Wednesday, with both the Sensex and Nifty slipping into the red amid bearish global cues. The NSE Nifty 50 declined by 28.95 points or 0.13% to 23,042.85, while the BSE Sensex dropped 105.36 points or 0.14% at 76,188.24 the opening bell.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a gap-down start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,365 level, a discount of nearly 190 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

All 13 major sectoral indices were in the red, with financials, oil & gas, and auto stocks dragging Nifty lower.

Sensex and Nifty 50 extended the losing streak to 5th day in a row on Tuesday (Feb 11) amid continuous foreign fund outflows and fresh US tariffs.

The Indian stock market faced selling pressure for the fourth day on February 10, with Sensex dropping over 600 points to 77,189.04 and Nifty 50 falling nearly 200 points to 23,357.60.
