Norwegian biathlete Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen took inspiration from his compatriot, cross-country ski king Johannes Klaebo, in Friday's men's 10km biathlon sprint with a lung-bursting drive up the final hill and across the finish line to secure the Olympic silver medal.
Sharing his data with The Athletic, as a 15-year-old, Klæbo sat 18th of 25 in the 60-meter sprint, 20th in chin-ups, and 24th in uphill strides. A fifth place in sit-ups and a seventh in push-ups offered more signs of grit than talent.
Norway’s Johannes Klaebo won the men's classic cross-country ski sprint for his seventh career Olympic gold medal with ease on Tuesday, while Linn Svahn led a Swedish podium sweep in the women's race at the Milano Cortina Games.
