Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has proposed tougher national gun laws after a mass shooting in Sydney.

Australian officials said the shooting at a Jewish holiday celebration had been carried out by a father and son. More than three dozen people were hospitalized, including a surviving gunman.

The mass shooting, labeled a terrorist attack by authorities, has sent shockwaves through Jewish communities worldwide — including here in Georgia, Sen. Jon Ossoff says.

A child is one of at least 15 people killed in an attack in Australia at one of the world’s most famous beaches. One of the gunman was also shot dead.

US President Donald Trump has strongly condemned the mass shooting at a Jewish festival in Sydney’s Bondi Beach, describing it as a “purely antisemitic attack.” Speaking during a Christmas celebration at the White House, Trump said, “That was a terrible attack, 11 dead, 29 badly wounded. And that was an antisemitic attack, obviously.”

New South Wales Premier Chris Minns on Sunday praised the man's actions, calling it "the most unbelievable scene."
