This rather unique 1978 Ford Bronco restomod went up for sale at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction last week, where it sold for $176,000.

Only offered for two model years—1978 and 1979—this Bronco was larger than the original, and for purposes of cost-cutting, borrowed its platform from the Ford F-100 pickup.

The 1978 Ford Bronco and modern Ford F-250 Super Duty mashup is expected to fetch six figures at auction next month.

The second-generation Ford Bronco took over in 1978 as a larger SUV meant to take on the Chevrolet K5 Blazer and Dodge Ramcharger, but the appeal of the first-generation carries on to this day.
