After tearing through the Caribbean, leaving destruction, flooding and more than 50 deaths so far, Melissa has lost power heading into the Atlantic.
Hurricane Melissa is expected to become an extratropical cyclone later today as it quickly moves away from Bermuda. According to the National Hurricane Center, Melissa is located about 255 miles north of Bermuda and is moving toward the northeast at about 41 mph.
After savaging Jamaica as one of the most powerful hurricanes on record, swamping Haiti, Cuba and the Bahamas and skirting Bermuda, Hurricane Melissa is rapidly speeding out into the Atlantic and is expected to drop down into an extratropical cyclone later today, according to the latest update from the National Hurricane Center.
