NOAA predicts below-normal Atlantic hurricane season

The National Hurricane Center released its first daily outlook for the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf on Friday which showed no tropical activity was expected over the next week.
The National Hurricane Center's tropical outlook shows nothing in the Atlantic basin to be concerned about. NOAA will release its forecast for the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season today, May 21. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30.
A forecaster is warning that U.S. coastlines could face "impactful” tropical storms earlier in the season as El Niño develops.
