Part of Rutgers’ success against Minnesota (a 26-19 victory for the Scarlet Knights) came down to health – especially linebacker Tyreem Powell, who had eight tackles and forced the fumble that propelled the Scarlet Knights to the win.

Meanwhile, the circumstances are a little more dire for Maryland (4-5, 1-5), which must win two of its last three games to earn an invite to what would be its fourth straight bowl. The program has not gone to four bowls in a row since a stretch between 1982 and 1985.

Maryland football needs two wins in its final three games to become bowl eligible. In all likelihood, its best chance to get one comes Saturday against Rutgers at SECU Stadium. Rutgers has lost four of its last five games and hasn’t looked like the same team late in the season.
