The Trump administration is contemplating the redeployment of about 4,500 U.S. forces to Guam or other locations in the region.

On Tuesday, South Korean military officials announced that North Korea likely received help from Russia to develop a new air-to-air missile — a missile fired from an aircraft to destroy another aircraft — which is the kind of advanced weaponry that South Korea is attempting to build by 2032.

South Korea said there have been no discussions with the US over a possible pullback of American troops stationed in the country, after a media report said Washington is reviewing a proposal to withdraw some of its forces.

The remarks came after The Wall Street Journal reported that the White House is considering pulling out roughly 4,500 troops and relocating them.
