This is in response to Sun president Jennifer Rizzotti denying the team's sale to Pags' group as the WNBA pushed back on the team relocating to Boston.

The league said in a statement Saturday that moving a team was at the discretion of the WNBA and not individual franchises.

Boston Celtics minority owner Steve Pagliuca offered to acquire the Connecticut Sun and move the team to Boston in a deal that values the team at a record $325 million, according to people familiar with the agreement.
