Dr. Shannon Joslin, a non-binary biologist at Yosemite, was fired after helping hang a transgender pride flag on El Capitan, sparking debate over free speech and workplace rights.
Joslin claimed that a temporary deputy superintendent fired them on Aug. 12 for “failing to demonstrate acceptable conduct” within their capacity as a wildlife biologist for the park.
The National Park Service confirmed Tuesday it is working with the Justice Department to pursue disciplinary action.
