A man who was arrested on suspicion of racially abusing Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo during the opening match of the Premier League season at Anfield has been bailed. The Cherries' Friday game against Liverpool was briefly halted in the 29th minute after Semenyo flagged it up to the referee.

Liverpool ’s 4-2 win over Bournemouth was marred by a fan of the former allegedly hurling racial abuse at Antoine Semenyo – and Merseyside Police have now confirmed that a man has been conditionally bailed after being arrested the day after the match.

A 47-year-old man, who was arrested after the Premier League’s season opener on Friday due to alleged racist abuse, has been banned from attending any regulated soccer match in the United Kingdom.
