A Florida man was gored by a bison after coming too close to the animal in Yellowstone National Park, officials said Wednesday.

A Yellowstone National park visitor from Florida was gored by a bison — the first such violent encounter of 2025 — just weeks into the busy summer season. Park officials repeated a frequent warning: Don’t get too close to wildlife.

Bison are known to defend their space if threatened by people, which has led to other violent incidents in the past. In 2023, another person was injured by a bison in Yellowstone, while a further two were injured last year. This latest case is the first reported in 2025.
