Annalee Davis Thorndike, 87, the New Englander who made the hand-painted collectible dolls that bear her first name, died Sunday in Meredith, N.H.

Her passion for doll collecting dates back to the 1950s fearing she would not be able to have children.

"Collectable dolls will compete in this section, with celluloid, hard plastic and porcelain dolls (pre-1950) and collectable bears (pre-1975) to feature," Mrs Taylor said.
