Some roster management is making way for a young prospect to return to the NHL. On Thursday, the New Jersey Devils announced that they have played forward Nico Hischier on injured reserve.

The New Jersey Devils have been without their captain for four games, and as of Thursday it will be five. He’s not expected to return to the Devils before the 4 Nations Face-Off break, thus he will miss six games overall before the world tournament.

On Thursday morning, the Devils announced captain Nico Hischier was placed on injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 25. The 26-year-old sustained an undisclosed injury in the second period of the Devils game on Jan. 25 against the Montreal Canadiens. Hischier has missed the last four games and is listed as week-to-week.
