The WBZ NEXT Weather team has been tracking three storms that potentially could have hit and impacted Massachusetts and the Boston area this week. That is now basically down to two.Storm #1 is going to essentially be a miss to our south.

In Boston, 5.5 inches of snow fell at Logan Airport, where the city's official snow totals are measured by the National Weather Service. Boston has now had a total of 22.3 inches of snow for the winter of 2024-25. At this point last winter, it was just 9.2 inches.

Boston meteorologists are closely monitoring a couple of potential storms that could bring more snow and rain this week.

Parts of Massachusetts could get 1 to 3 inches of snow and some ice from Wednesday night into Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service’s Boston office.

The snow will arrive Saturday between 10 p.m. and midnight. Once it arrives, it will hit the ground running. The majority of the snow accumulation will occur between midnight and 7 a.m. on Sunday. There will be some light snow and flurries between 7 a.m. and noon but very little additional accumulation.

Light snow near and south of the Hartford-Providence-Plymouth line should produce a coating of 1 to 2 inches of snow Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters expect that snow should leave during the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday.
