Doug Moe, who engineered one of the best offenses of its era as coach for the Denver Nuggets in the 1980s, died at 87.

Doug Moe, an ABA original who gained fame over a rumpled, irreverent and sometimes R-rated decade as coach of the Denver Nuggets in the 1980s, died Tuesday.

He returned to the Nuggets franchise in 1980 as head coach, a position he held until 1990.
