In the span of six batters in the seventh inning, a stretch that included dropped transfers by the catcher, a pitcher hit by a throw down to second base, multiple missed strike calls, a pitcher’s costly throwing error, and a game-changing homer, the Guardians did as they seemingly always do and picked apart the Twins.

López cruised through the first six innings, allowing just two hits, a pair of doubles to batters he stranded. He had little run support to speak of, though, because while López was dealing for the Twins, so, too, was Guardians starter Luis Ortiz.

It barely rained at Progressive Field on Tuesday, and the Twins and Guardians followed the weather’s lead: Not much rain, and only a little bit of thunder in their bats. No Twin ever touched third base during the long-delayed game except for during Ty France’s home run trot.
