A ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia appeared to largely be holding on Tuesday as military commanders from both countries met for negotiations, even as the Thai army accused Cambodian troops of violating the truce overnight.

Anwar recently brokered a peace deal between Cambodia and Thailand, which had seen five days of bloody fighting.

U.S.-backed talks to end the border war, in which militaries have killed dozens of people and displaced hundreds of thousands, began on Monday in Malaysia.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Monday said an unconditional ceasefire agreed with Thailand offered a chance for a "return to normalcy" in relations after five days of clashes.

Fighting continues along the border between Thailand and Cambodia on July 24, at key conflict points: Ta Mone Thom Temple, Ta Krabey Temple, the Mom Bei area and near Preah Vihear Temple.

The ceasefire comes amid pressure from Trump, who said on Truth Social on Saturday that he'd pause trade tariff talks with both countries if hostilities continued. Thailand had initially rejected the offer of a third party mediation but changed its tune following Trump's tariff threat.
