The New York Rangers didn't have to fend for themselves without their prized goaltender for long. Igor Shesterkin is set to return to the cage on Thursday against the New Jersey Devils at Madison Square Garden after missing four games to an upper-body injury per NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.

The Rangers will activate star netminder Igor Shesterkin from injured reserve ahead of Thursday’s game against the Devils.

Igor Shesterkin, who hasn’t played this month due to an upper-body injury, is set to return in net for the Rangers Thursday night against Las Vegas, head coach Peter Laviolette said at Madison Square Garden.

The New York Rangers recalled their six-foot-eight yard-dog forward Matt Rempe on Tuesday from the AHL Hartford Wolfpack after having served an eight-game suspension. He is officially eligible to return against the New Jersey Devils at Madison Square Garden on Thursday.

The Devils face the Rangers for the third time this season on Thursday night, and Matt Rempe could return to the lineup.

Returning to practice on Wednesday afternoon following an eight-game suspension, Rangers enforcer Matt Rempe admitted that he must play smarter moving forward.
