The Celtics are filling one of their open 15-man roster spots with a recent acquisition to the franchise. A source confirmed to MassLive that Boston is converting two-way guard John Tonje to a 10-day contract. Michael Scotto of Hoopshype was first to report the news.

Banton was on the Celtics at the start of the 2023-24 season, the same year they won the title. He played 24 games with the team, averaging 7.1 minutes, but was later traded to the Trail Blazers at the deadline that season. Banton most recently played with the Clippers this season, but he got minutes in only two games.
