While Musk has touted it as "the smartest AI in the world," Grok usage still lags ChatGPT. Tesla had last week said it would hold its annual shareholder meeting on November 6.

Musk’s startup, xAI, released the latest version of Grok on July 9. The update — dubbed Grok 4 — was designed to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.

Musk is scrambling to keep up in the AI race after helping launch OpenAI with Sam Altman in 2015, the company behind the wildly popular chatbot ChatGPT, which helped spur on the current AI craze.
