On this day in 1956: 65 years ago today Bill Bedford set a point-to-point record from London (Dunsfold) to Rome (Ciampino) covering 892 miles in 1 hour, 34 mins at 566 mph in the first prototype Hawker P.1101 (later named Hunter T.7) two-seat jet trainer XJ615. It was also on this day in 1996 that Bill Bedford passed away. While the Pathé archive doesn’t have any footage of this, there is some brilliant footage of the Hawker Hunter in flight, this clip features the first public demonstration of

Happy New Year to all our wonderful fans! We had a record-breaking New Year’s Day Gathering, with over 1500 cars and almost 8000 people attending through the course of the day. Thanks to everyone who came and supported this event, which was incredibly busy, as well as our volunteer marshals and stewards without whom we couldn’t run the event.
