This week we learned that homelessness is up 8% across Ontario through 2025, and up 50% since 2021. I want to be as clear as possible – homelessness is a tragedy. Growing homelessness in our province is worse than in many other areas of the country. This is a fixable problem. Shelters are filling up on these cold nights, subsidized housing waitlists are topping 10 years or more across the province, and private rentals are unaffordable for many of our neighbours.
