On 19 December 1961, Goa, one of India's most popular tourist spots, was freed from Portuguese rule more than four centuries after it was colonised. The fight for Goa's freedom began in the 1940s and picked momentum after India got its independence in 1947. Two Goans who saw the freedom struggle up close shared their stories with us.
