18 years ago today, former US president George W Bush gave Saddam Hussein a 48-hour deadline to flee Iraq or face a US-led invasion. Two days later, the US and its coalition forces, primarily from the UK, initiated a war based on intelligence that Iraq had accumulated an arsenal of weapons of mass destruction and would soon acquire nukes.
